The scientific session “Approaching God for Spiritual Health” was held on Wednesday, the 12th of Dey, at the Institute of Seminaries and Universities. Ayatollah Seyyed Mohammad Ghoreyvi, the head of the Research Institute of Behavioral Sciences at the Institute of Seminaries and Universities, congratulated the auspicious birth anniversary of Hazrat Fatimah (PBUH) and commemorated the Day of Islamic Humanities in this session, stating: The first steps towards the reconstruction of Islamic humanities were taken by Ayatollah Misbah Yazdi, and he made significant efforts in this regard. He continued: Psychology, despite all its successes over a century and a half, has emerged, like other humanities, in the realm of achieving secularism and has been shaped under the influence of positivist thinking; although there were other thoughts that sought to marginalize spirituality and put it in parentheses, for this reason, spiritual matters were not addressed afterwards.
Ayatollah Ghoreyvi added: In recent years, psychologists have observed these realities in their studies that special attention must be paid to spirituality, but this time spirituality was also addressed within the framework of secularism, and sometimes we witnessed spirituality without God, but today we see that God-centered spirituality is growing.
The head of the Research Institute of Behavioral Sciences at the Institute of Seminaries and Universities stated: The human heart is the truth of human beings and is inseparable from him. The inclination towards the truth of God is recorded and registered in the existential layers of human beings and can be the axis of all human movements, desires, and behaviors. There are many verses in this regard, and the Quran states that responding to the prophets’ call leads to human life.
He stated: Psychology can only serve humanity when it pays attention to all aspects of humanity. The Institute of Seminaries and Universities also pays attention to this point. Today, books are being unveiled that focus on this issue; such as the book “Spiritual Health,” which addresses the subject of health with a divine perspective covering all dimensions of humanity. The book “Multi-Dimensional Spirituality” presents the God-centered pattern for individuals suffering from psychological problems, but the divine approach helps them. The book “Spiritual Care” deals with the spiritual revival of severely ill and incurable patients and aims to elevate the spirituality of individuals.
Ayatollah Ghoreyvi continued by stating that spiritual reliance has a significant impact on the body’s immune system and helps human health. Those who did not have spiritual reliance quickly succumbed to illness and lost their lives, but it has been observed that those who had spiritual reliance were able to defeat the disease and live for years after the illness.
He added: The book “Mental Health” presents an acceptable collection of coping with anxiety and problems with a divine approach. The book “God-Centered Family Therapy” is a practical model for saving families that prioritizes the spiritual health of the family. However, many books have been written on the spiritual health of the family, which is very helpful.
